editorial graphic for 5 ways small retailers can build a better business with a better website

How building a social community can boost your “word of mouth” sales.
editorial graphic for How building a social community can boost your “word of mouth” sales.

Social networking is the latest buzz in internet evangelism. Rumors swirl of how Twitter will deliver the mountain of “new followers”, desperate to act on your every “tweet”. MySpace prophets claim using that service makes your company “way cool” to the “kids”…. Savvy “new media poets” tell you a Facebook App will cure your blues. Gee.... don’t those claims sound too good to be true? The bold hype about social networking seem vaguely familiar to the “Future Dollars argument” of the Dot Com bubble in 2001 before common sense popped it.

After all who really wants to be Best Friends Forever with Wal-Mart?

Lawyers: Shrink your Yellow Pages. Develop your website.
editorial graphic for Lawyers: Shrink your Yellow Pages. Develop your website.

Use the savings to invest in your website development.

Lawyers are the number one advertisers by expenditure in the Yellow Pages. However 58% of the people looking for lawyers use the internet first. They use the internet to research legal advice and locate the websites of lawyers that will help them. Of those who are “not-connected” 27% rely on family and friends to do that research for them. 1

Think of how much money your law firm spends every year on Yellow Pages Advertising and then consider taking just 25% of those advertising dollars and investing in your current website. 3 The cost of Yellow Pages isn't just the monthly fee, its the time it takes to qualify inquiries for legal services that don't turn out to be profitable. Shrink your Ad and invest in your future.
